A nonprofit located on the Redondo Beach Pier since 1987, Cancer Support Community Redondo Beach (CSCRB) is an independent affiliate of the international Cancer Support Community network with headquarters in Washington, DC. CSCRB provides more than 200 free programs per month of social and emotional support, education and hope for people with cancer and their families. At the onset of the current pandemic, CSCRB began offering all of its free programs on the virtual platform. The goal of CSCRB is to help as many cancer patients as possible recover from the physical and emotional effects of cancer to the greatest extent possible. Services include drop-in networking groups, weekly support group programs, Kids Support Community, Teens Connect program, informational brochures, stress reduction, exercise and mind-body activities, educational lectures and workshops on nutrition and treatment. Offering what is considered to be the gold standard of psychosocial support, all programs at CSCRB are derived from evidence-based psychosocial oncology and mind-body research. CSCRB serves the entire South Bay, Long Beach and Orange County areas.
