This Friday we will host Cheryl Abel and Kelly Fogarty from Soroptimist International Manhattan Beach. They will share info about the organization and also about their (upcoming) largest fundraiser, Luna Fest…. A short film festival for, about, and created by women!

Cheryl Abel - Cheryl is currently the president of Soroptimist International of Manhattan Beach and has been a member of the club for 15 years.  She has been active in volunteering in Manhattan Beach for over 30 years.  She served  as  PTA  president at the elementary and high school levels and actively worked on bond measures for the Manhattan Beach Unified School district.  She is currently Program Director at Crown Jewel Club, a non-profit that teaches fifth-grade girls in south Los Angeles the importance of manners, etiquette, self-esteem and education.  Cheryl and her husband have been residents of Manhattan Beach for 40 years and have two grown children.

Kelly Fogarty - Kelly is celebrating 17 years as a Soroptimist this month. She has held many positions in the Manhattan Beach club including President, and has chaired events as well as the club's philanthropic program committees. She has served on the Camino Real Region Board of Directors, and on the Fundraising Council of the Soroptimist International of the Americas Federation. Kelly's work history includes selling computer systems (in the 80's), being a Realtor (in the 90's), and working various administrative and consulting jobs until retiring. She and her husband John live in Manhattan Beach and have one daughter, Katie, who now lives in Australia.
