Jan Perry L.A. City General Manager, Economic Development Expert to Speak at Manhattan Beach Chamber’s Upcoming Economic Forum 2013

The Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Jan Perry, General Manager for the City of Los Angeles and former City Councilmember, will be the keynote speaker at their upcoming 2013 Economic Forum to be held at a breakfast (7:00 am - 10:00 am) on September 13th at the Manhattan Beach Marriott.  During her 12 years in office, Ms. Perry helped lead the renaissance of Los Angeles spearheading cutting-edge projects including approval of the L.A. Live entertainment complex and hotel projects near the city’s Convention Center.  In her current role as the top executive at the city she will continue to drive improvements to new heights.

Register early for this event, which will sell out quickly!  Come hear Director Perry share her vision, expertise and challenges on the directions taken to revitalize Los Angeles – and how every business and resident plays a vital role in creating a thriving local economy.  Learn how economic development can shape the future of Manhattan Beach when the community embraces a vision.

Marty Shelton, VP of NAI Capital, will serve as moderator of the event.  Mr. Shelton has first-hand experience working with the Hollywood and Los Angeles communities on revitalization and zoning initiatives.  He will serve as the host to two panels:  Panel 1 will focus on how similar communities have maintained or built a thriving commercial district while maintaining the character and charm of their communities and Panel 2 will focus on community engagement and how residents and businesses can better work together.
The panels will feature an impressive roster of talented economic development experts from around the region, including Ray Montano, Economic Development Director for the City of Pasadena; Richard Bruckner former manager at the City of Pasadena; Todd Tipton, Redevelopment Administrator for the City of Culver City; Liz Griggs, General Manager, Manhattan Village Shopping Center; David Curry, VP Sales Manager, Bank of Manhattan; Lisa McKay from the Buxton Consulting Group; and David Carmany, City Manager, City of Manhattan Beach who will lend their knowledge and share their specific areas of expertise.

The event kicks off at 7:00 am with a breakfast buffet and networking opportunities followed by the program, which will deliver two hours of packed business information.  Additional speakers will be announced.  The Manhattan Beach Marriott is located at 1400 Parkview Avenue in Manhattan Beach.  The cost to attend is $55.00 per person.  Advanced registration is now open.  Register now at www.ManhattanBeachChamber.com.  Last year's Economic Forum sold out early!  For more information or to become a Sponsor, contact Lori Tostado, Director of Business Development, at the Chamber at 310-545-5313.
